quick nail post #11.

Hey, look...#ManiMonday!

OPI - Can't Let Go (Liquid Sand) / Kiko - 347

Even though the warmer months are approaching, I can't steer away from my dark colour palette when it comes to my nails, and this OPI liquid sand formula is one of my favourites at the moment.

quick nail post #10.

mattified and metallic.

rimmel london - camouflage chic (finished with essie - matte about you) / beauty uk - silver bronze

It is none other than #ManiMonday so I thought I'd show you what I've been sporting on my nails as of recently.

I've never been one to follow trends directly, so this fall for me is not about dark, vampy colours but more about textures. I am once again in love with matte finishes, especially on natural looking colours, and I think metallic nails compliment this very well.

Be sure to check out all of my other NOTDs
Are you into matte nails? Are metallics too much for this season?

girls. - deborah lippmann nail collection.

I'm not one to watch too many series' on TV, but when I do, I get disgustingly engrossed in it and dedicated to it.

Like many people all over the world, when I first watched an episode of Girls, the entire time I was thinking 'what the hell am I watching?!', but this only made me want to watch it more...and now I love it! So when I discovered that a part of their official merchandise was a nail polish collection collaboration with Deborah Lippmann...three words: gotta have it.

Girls Deborah Lippmann Nail Polish set of 4 - Limited Edition - £30*

The set comes with four colours with each one representing one of the four main characters.

I love the bold difference between each of the colours, all showing a clear representation of the four characters. My favourite colours are Hannah's and Shoshanna's...and evidently they are my favourite characters on the show!

Be sure to check out the set and also take a look at all their other official merchandise.

What are your favourite colours/characters? Are you a fan of Girls?

quick nail post #9.

I recently discovered this nail polish again, and I've once again fallen in love with green. I'm also trying to ease myself into doing matte nails again, so I thought I'd start with a nail polish that is already mattified.

While doing these nails I also discovered that I am incredibly crappy at doing nail art (drawing a straight line appeared to be a challenge), so I admire those of you who can do all the fancy art on your nails!

revlon - emerald city (matte suede) / essie - school of hard rocks / barry M nail art pen - black

feel free to take a peek at all my previous nail posts, and I've also got more beauty posts in the works so you've got that to look forward to.

primark nail polishes.

Nowadays, I never really go into Primark with the intention to buy anything, but if I see something that I like then I will most definitely get it. A few weeks ago I hit Primark with my sister, saw these bad boys on sale, and grabbed them immediately.

ocean / diva / angel / twilight - £2.50 £1 each on sale

I love the whole holographic feel that these polishes have going on, so I already know that I will get a lot of use from all of them.

You can look forward to quick nail posts featuring these colours!

quick nail post #8.

I decided to experiment with my nails a little bit this time around and go with a multi-coloured manicure. I love the way it turned out and I will most definitely be doing this with a mixture of different colours...I may even make this a little series on here.

I used a range of my favourite brands to achieve this look and my Seche Vite and Nails Inc. top coats helped to give them a glossy finish.

 barry M - watermelon / barry M - prickly pear / essie - school of hard rocks / nails inc. - westminster / barry M - cobalt blue

Have you tried any multi-coloured manicures? Show me! (link your blog, instagram, twitter etc. below!!)

quick nail post #7.

It's been a while since I've done a nail post. I don't think the colours or combinations I've been using have been interesting enough.
Anyway, I snapped up this purple colour when ASOS were doing 25% off...and next to the green it looks amazing!

I love the pigmentation in the Gelly polishes, and the fact I don't need a top coat either is awesome.

quick nail post #6.

Taking a break from all the glitters I had used over the festive season, I felt like going really dark with my nails.
Also, I had a little break from it, but I am falling back in love with matte nails.

quick nail post #5.

It's Chrissssssssssstmas!!
Well...not yet, but you know...tis the season :)

I've been going hardcore with my seasonal nails, diving into all of my glitter polishes and making bizarre mixes.
I get so excited when it comes to my nails...it's weird.

Ramble over. Enjoy :)

essie - 'first base' base coat.

Another nail related post...apologies!
This has been a long time coming, but I wanted to review this base coat that I bought a little while back as it is the first base coat that I have ever stuck to using.

essie - 'first base' base coat {tk maxx £4.99 sale}

I have never been one to religiously use a base coat every time I paint my nails and that is mostly due to laziness. I did not go out specifically looking for one, but when I came across this essie one at TK Maxx, I had to grab it (I’m such a sucker for sale items!).

Since I have bought it, I have used it every single time before I apply my nail polish so that I could properly analyse the difference between the results. I instantly noticed three awesome things about it:

it dries ridiculously quickly. – in this way you don’t need to apply your base coat then wait a minute for it to dry. I find that as soon as I’m done with both my hands I can instantly go ahead and start with my nail colour.
it does not leave your nails shiny. – unlike a top coat, it does not leave a glossy finish. As it dries, it appears as if there is nothing on your nails. It does still leave a smooth surface to apply polish on to…so no gloss is a plus.
it is incredibly lightweight. – it is not like a regular clear polish so it is not as thick as one. It is light and it doesn’t affect the amount of layers of polish that is to go on afterwards.

In terms of lasting power, I did not find that it made my nail polish last a whole lot longer (probably because I change my nail polish so frequently), but I did find that my nail polish did not chip as easily along with the help of my top coat.

Mostly because I have bought it now, I will continue to use this base coat as it has now become part of my nail routine…but I’m always on the search for a new and better brand.

Do you use or know of any good base coats? Do you find that it makes a difference or do you think it is a waste of time?

quick nail post #4.

Sorry guys...another one!

I've actually gone a bit mad with my nails this past week. I blame it on buying new polishes from the Barry M stand. Seriously, check it out...the glitter and gelly nail polishes are amazing!
Here we have yet another concoction of nail polishes that I have put together to make different effects. I find that putting one coat of a nail polish that is quite sheer on top of an opaque one can make nice, unique results.

Enjoy!

angelica (primark) - palma violet {coated with barry M - silvery lilac} / seche vite top coat / essie - case study / rimmel london pro matte finish

I'm also going through a stage with my nails where I am trying to look after them a bit more. This includes the actual nail and the skin around it. If you know any products that are good for that, then please do let me know, I love your recommendations :)

quick nail post #2.

I dug out a few colours that I hadn't used in a while. I love how the holographic accent adds something a bit different to the 'odd nail out'.

quick nail post #1.

Anyone who knows me will know I am OBSESSED with painting my nails…it’s basically become a hobby of mine lol.

I thought it would be a fun idea to do a little series on my blog…NOTD (Nails of the Day). Not every day, but whenever I get creative with my nails or I am just in love with a certain colour.

barry m limited edition effects – lilac foil / essie – school of hard rocks
