about a year or so ago... - london fashion week.

With LFW literally a week away, I thought it was only right to reflect on some of the trends that we saw this time last year. Remember the shows in September are for Spring/Summer the following year...so the following images are trends that you should have been incorporating into your wardrobes recently. (This is also a nice way to remember how summer was and not how it currently is...crappy British weather!)

KTZ - Felder Felder

Dark Summers - I think we are more than used to seeing anything out of the ordinary, and that was definitely the case this summer with black being the statement colour. With this, we were able to play with a whole heap of trends and mess with different textures in our outfits. Black sheer tops enabled us to graciously layer on any colder days while staying true to the season, and harsher leather materials lead us to take risks with more revealing pieces.
It's always good to see that there is never a wrong time to wear an all-black outfit...just be a little more adventurous with it. (note taken.)

Holly Fulton - Mother of Pearl

Printed - Seeing as I am queen of basic, I am probably the worst person to speak on this, but I literally love prints on clothes! Especially when it is those weird, symmetrical, graphic prints. Added to our little dark summers trend, it is the most interesting way to make a minor outfit major. We saw a whole load of printed co-ords this summer which I did not entirely hate (Adidas had some dope ones), which was a witty way to play on some of the more classic summer trends such as pastels and florals.

I normally hate Spring/Summer fashion, but last year completely changed the game for me and I'm excited to see what some of my favourite designers will come up with this time around. NYFW kicked off yesterday, and I must say, so far so good...

See you at fashion week, jayj x.

the review - british plus-size fashion weekend 2014.

As you saw on a previous post, I was invited along to the media day of the BPSFW. This particular event went down on Friday 14th February, along with so many other events...so it was definitely a successful day.

I had the chance to speak to designers and models and get an insight to new and current plus-size fashion and I learned SO much. It was amazing to be in a room full of people where being plus-size was being embraced and celebrated.

Simply Be.
Dynasty London - Viviana.
 Dear Curves.
 Syreeta Badu.
Remi Ray. (wearing my new favourite tee!)

Here is an instagram pic of me and the amazing Whitney from ANTM!

Be sure to check out all the links to see more from each designer.

Apologies for the picture heavy post! I also tried to get a video up of the catwalk but I am having mad technical issues so stay tuned for that in a separate post.

Did you make it to the event? What do you think of all the plus-size designers?

everyday is a plus-size fashion day, jayj x.

british plus-size fashion weekend 2014.

I've been lucky enough to be invited to the British Plus Size Fashion Weekend for the second year running, and as I want to see all of you there, including my curvy sisters, I thought I'd share some info and links to the event so you can get your tickets.
I love anything that celebrates women of all shapes and sizes, and as a lover of fashion, it is so positive to see so much light shining on plus-size fashion. There will be four exclusive fashion shows, including one for lingerie and swimwear which I am super excited about! You will also get the chance to shop at the event with an exclusive discount, and there will be professionals on hand to give you advice about your shape and how to shop for your figure.

It will be held on the 14th and 15th February at the London Vinopolis.
Be sure to check out the official website to get tons more information and also find out how to get your tickets.

Hope to see you there!!...and make sure to look out for my blog post after the event for pics and whatnot.

plus-size is beautiful, jayj x.

Look forward to a London Fashion Weekend haul, and if you missed it here are pictures from the day!

yours truly, jayj x.

london fashion weekend aw12.

So in order to celebrate my friends birthday, and also because I desperately wanted to go, I attended, for the very first time, London Fashion Weekend.
I had so much fun! There were so many new designers that I discovered, as well as feasting my eyes on collections from familiar ones. I was able to see how they used their unique designs to create pieces for this season...how they used colour, cut and different materials.
As well as all the fashion rooms where you were able to buy designer pieces at a discounted price, I also attended a Style Bloggers talk where I learned tips on how to develop my blogging, and finally a catwalk show showing the trends for the current season.

All in all it was an epic day for me and I am so glad that I went.
I think it's safe to say I shall be going to a lot more in the future!

Now feast your eyes on my pictures from the day.

Apologies for the many...many pictures!
Also shout out to my awesome friend Emma for the camera...epic girl (and she's an awesome photographer...click her link!)

Did you go to London Fashion Weekend? How was your experience?
